2011 Infiniti M Debuts at Pebble Beach

2011 Infiniti M

Infiniti provided an advanced look of their new M model at the 59th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. While the new M will make its public debut later in 2009, the car was virtually displayed at the show using a unique video mapping system to show a “virtual” M in 3D. The new M will be in its third generation and the first to be sold across every one of Infiniti’s 32 worldwide markets.

The third generation M will again offer a V6 as well as a V8. The V8 M56 will most likely have over 400 horsepower, while the M37 will use the 3.7 liter engine found in the G37 which delivers 330 horsepower. Expect similar power for the six cylinder M37 model. Despite having increased performance from both engines, fuel consumption has been reduced. In Western Europe, the V8 gasoline engine will be replaced by a high performance V6 diesel engine.

The 2011 M features a completely redesigned body; most noticeable will be the lower front end and deeply sculpted fenders inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept car. The 2011 will feature Infiniti’s blind spot intervention system which alerts the driver if another vehicle is detected in one of the blind spots during a lane change. After alerting the driver, then car will then assist the driver in returning back to their original lane.

The new M will go on sale in Spring 2010 as a 2011 model.
