Frankfurt Motor Show Preview: Audi RS3?

Let the Frankfurt Motor Show speculation begin! Swedish magazine Auto, Motor & Sport reported that the RS3 is headed to the Frankfurt Motor show this September. The RS3 would be based off the Audi A3 TDI Clubsport Quattro shown in the pictures below. The magazine claims to have inside information from Audi headquarters stating that the RS3 will soon be launched.

More speculation: The RS3 will most likely have the same 2.5 liter turbo engine as in the TT-RS, pushing out 340 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque via Audi’s all-wheel drive Quattro system. This much power should propel the RS3 to 60 mph in under 5 seconds, topping out at an electronically limited 155 mph. It’s unsure as to whether Audi will tune down the horsepower to keep the RS3 from encroaching on TT-RS territory.

The Frankfurt Motor Show comes only once every other year, so it would be an ideal venue for hometown Audi to release its hot hatch. We will keep you posted on further Frankfurt Motor Show developments. Until then, check out the concept pics below.

8/28/09 UPDATE: An Audi official just announced that the RS3 will not be making its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
